Horse Grazing Policy

Policy governing the grazing of horses on Pines Ranch for the year 2021

Adopted by the Board of Directors in 2011


Shareholders and their families shall be eligible to graze horses on pastures of the Pines Ranch under the following conditions:


  1. The grazing of horses on Pines Ranch pastures shall commence no earlier than the 19th of June (following workday activities).  Any horses arriving at the ranch prior to this time shall be confined to a small pen or corral and fed hay supplied by the horse owner. Horses are no longer permitted to graze the at-large areas of the ranch in the fall. Unattended horses shall be confined to fenced pastures, mountain pastures or corrals.


  1. Fees for grazing shall be assessed:  Horses grazing the “front pastures will be assessed at the rate of $35.00 per month per horse.  Short-term grazing may be calculated at a daily rate of $2.00 per horse.  Horses grazing the mountain pastures will be assessed at the rate of $10.00 per month per horse.                   

    EARLY grazing fees are $25 per horse per day. Please do not graze early.


  1. Horses grazing on Pines Ranch pastures will have been immunized in 2021 against Equine Encephalomyelitis and Viremia (West Nile Virus); and the owners thereof shall provide written certification of said immunization to the President of Pines Ranch via the horse folder in the ‘Fire Shed’. (Certification forms are located in the ‘Fire Shed’.)


  1. Payment of grazing fees are due on the first day of the month following use of the pastures. Checks should be made payable to Pines Ranch Inc., and sent to the President of Pines Ranch Inc.  Delinquent fees will be assessed for reminder notices.


  1. Owners of horses shall register their horses on an honor system log-in sheet which shall be located in the ‘Fire Shed’ at the crossroads.


  1. Horse owners shall be responsible for health care and treatment of horses injured on the ranch.


  1. Each horse is permitted to graze on the ranch by a shareholder. That shareholder is ultimately responsible for unpaid fees and courtesy violations. Horse owners must have specific/signed shareholder permission to graze the Pines. 


  1. Failure to comply with these and other policies relating to the use and conduct of horses on the ranch may result in the loss of grazing privileges as determined by the Board of Directors.
